Why are you issuing this recall?

In rare circumstances the blade holder of the Santa Ana Ceiling Fan can develop cracks and possibly break.  Out of an abundance of caution and in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission Fanim Industries has elected to conduct this voluntary recall.

How do I determine if my fan is subject to the recall?

The recall involves the Harbor Breeze 48-inch Santa Ana Ceiling fan model LP8294LBN with one of the following date codes: 0414, 0514, 0614, 0714, 0814, 0914, 1014, 1114, 1214, 0115, 0215, 0315, 0415, 0515, 0615, 0715, 0815, 0915, 1015, 1115.

Where can I find the date code?

The date code can be found inside the battery compartment or on top of the lower housing assembly.  See example images below:

What remedy are you providing for the recall?

Fanim Industries is supplying redesigned replacement blade holders (set of 2) free of charge.

How do you know the new blade holders won’t have the same problem?

In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission the updated blade holders have gone through extensive testing. The replacement blade holders have a modified design that is thicker and wider that also includes a change from zinc to aluminum alloy.  The updated blade holders go above and beyond the required specifications.

How do I submit a request for replacement blade holders?

For your convenience we offer multiple ways to submit a request for replacement blade holders:

  • Go to Fanimation.com and fill out the recall form
  • Send an email to recall@fanimation.com with your first name, last name, mailing address, the date code, and number of fans
  • Call the recall hotline at 888-434-3797 from Monday-Friday 8am-5pm EST

Is there cost associated with the replacement blade holders?

No, replacement blade holders are provided at no cost.

Where can I find the instructions to replace the blade holders?

Do I need to take the fan down to install the replacement blade holders?

No, the fan does not need to be taken down to replace the blade holders. Please see instruction sheet for more details.

What tools are needed to replace the blade holders?

For your convenience the appropriate screwdriver is supplied with the replacement blade holders.

I haven’t had any problems with my fan. Do I need to replace the blade holders?

We highly recommend that both blade holders (2) are replaced even if you’ve not experienced any problems.

Can I continue to use the fan while waiting for replacement blade holders?

Out of an abundance of caution, customers should cease operation of the fan until the replacement blade holders are installed.
